Our Trip to Williamsburg

On Friday, March 13th, Mom, Aunt Beverly, Katelyn, and I drove down to Williamsburg, Virginia for what will hopefully be the first of many trips down there. One of our stops was at Perkins, I think in Warrenton. When I gave her a bite of chicken, I told her to blow on it b/c it was too hot. She tried to eat it, but she said "I can't blow the hot away!"
Katelyn was so excited to go "to 'cation". The whole day she kept asking where the 'cation was, even once we got there. No wonder she was confused, all we did was drive, eat, and stop to pee! She did a great job with going to the potty. Not one accident the whole day!

The mirror kept Katelyn entertained any time we were in the hotel room. She sang, danced, talked to herself about going potty. It was quite hilarious to watch and listen!
That night we had reservations for Christiana Campbell's. They kept bringing us food the whole time we sat there: rolls and muffins, soup, cole slaw salad, our main course, corn bread pudding (I think that's the name of it), and raspberry sorbet. Yum! At the beginning of the meal, Katelyn wanted to bang her spoons on the plate so I told her that the waiter told me that if she does it again, he'd put her outside until we were done eating. Poor kid believed me b/c everytime she made a loud noise, either on purpose or by accident, she'd look at me and then look around and say "I sorry" so sincere.

The ride on the bus was the highlight of Katelyn's day though. You could tell she thought she was big stuff sitting on the seat by herself. At one point, she put her hand in my hand, just like a big girl:)

On Saturday, we slept in a bit and then hit the town. We toured Bassatt Hall, Geddy House, Governor's Palace, and, Abby Rockefeller Museum. Katelyn did really well on the tours. I was very proud of her. Of course, everywhere we went, she got fussed over. She ate the attention right up!
Oh, and I should mention that it rained the ENTIRE time we were there. That didn't ruin our fun though!

That night we ate at Shield's Tavern where the one lady acted as Mrs. Shield's. She teased Katelyn everytime she came into the room. I wish I would've gotten a picture of her and Katelyn together. When we left, the hostess gave Katelyn a Shield's Tavern pin. She got one the night before too at Christiana's.
On Sunday, after we checked out, we went back downtown and toured the George Wyeth house and grounds. In one of the buildings, a lady was basket weaving. It looked like so much fun that I ended up getting a basket weaving kit. We'll see how that goes!
Before we ate lunch at Chownings Tavern, my poor baby had her first accident on the whole trip just seconds before sitting on the potty. We lived through it though. At Chownings they didn't serve anything kid friendly so later on I took her to Retro Pit Stop for a grilled cheese sandwich and surprise, surprise, chocolate milk while Mom and Beverly did some shopping in the colonial stores. We finally got on the road to head home around 4:30. Traffic and weather was not good and then add up all our potty stops, it was 11:30 until we made it home. All in all, it was a wonderful weekend and I can't wait to take Katelyn back again. I know I could've written more, but these were the highlights of the weekend.
