I have no idea why, but I just got this feeling tonight while putting Katelyn to bed that I should start doing a blog. Not for others to read, just me for now. Katelyn will be 3 years old in less than 2 months and everyday she says something new and I'm like where did she come up with that? And even though I think I'll remember it forever, I know that someday I'll forget. Just like when I held Luke yesterday, I could barely remember Katelyn being that tiny. So even though I'm quite a bit late to be doing a New Year's resolution, my resolution is to write everyday at least one saying or something she did that I want to remember!
So today is day 4 of transitioning to the big girl bed. The first 3 nights she was fine with me leaving the room after letting her tell me all about how 'when she gets bigger, she's going to sleep in Mamma's bed'. Tonight was a little different. Bob fell asleep on the floor while I read Katelyn's favorite story (for today), "Are You My Mother?" by PD Eastman. I turned out the light and kicked Bob out when Katelyn tried to crawl on the floor with him. I tried to leave the room twice, but she cried for me both times, the second time she actually came to the computer room to find me. That was the first time she got out of bed after the lights were out. I ended up having to sit by her bed for about 15 minutes until she fell asleep.
It's so sweet having her come in the room to wake us up instead of hearing a very demanding "Mommy, Mommy, MOMMY!!" This morning she touched my face very lightly and when I opened my eyes she was just staring at me, half asleep.
Katelyn also declared that Tim is her best friend today because he kept making funny faces at her.
While playing outside before it got dark, Katelyn was digging in the mulch and when we tried to talk to her, she told us, "I'm working right now!"
And one more thing, Beverly called tonight announcing that her one sheep had a baby lamb and she would like Katelyn to name it. It'll be interesting to find out what she decides!
