This is the 6th year that I've used the socks filled with goodies as our countdown to Christmas. I don't remember where I got the idea from anymore. More than likely, I found it in a magazine or on a blog and then added my own personal touch to it.
In each sock, there are two Hershey Kisses (one candy cane, one mint truffle), 2 puzzle pieces from a 48 piece puzzle that when completed creates the nativity scene, a Christmas joke (found on someone's blog that I can't remember now!), a slip of paper with a Christmas craft (created by The Activity Mom) on one side and a Christmas activity of some sort on the other side, and finally a Bible Verse Advent Card (created by the Happy Home Fairy).
Every morning starting on December 1st, when the girls wake up, we take a sock down, they get to eat the chocolate (yes, even if it's 6:30am!), and then we talk about the items in the sock and what is on our to-do list for the day based on the activity card. I love this tradition and plan on using as long as the girls enjoy it. My hope is that someday they will continue the sock advent with their own kids:)
