Anyone remember a few years ago when I told you about Katelyn swallowing a rubber lizard? And then when Chloe was about a year old, I found out that she had been eating foam shapes? I thought that was it for the strange swallowings in my house...
On Thursday, Chloe stuck a bell in her mouth and somehow managed to not only dislodge the metal ringer thingy that makes the bell ding, but then proceed to swallow it. Of course, I didn't realize that is what had happened. I thought she had stuck the top heart shaped top of the bell in her mouth too far and gagged herself. When she pulled it out of her mouth, she coughed a little and then told me she ate the bell. Still didn't think anything of it until about 10 minutes later while P's mom was here picking him up. Chloe brought the bell to us to show us that she ate the ringer thingy. I didn't panic quite as much as I did when the lizard was swallowed. I called my good friend, Tracy, who is also an RN. She told me (again) that it should pass on its own.
And sure enough, while we were playing at Voila today, it did:)
All one inch by quarter inch metal (about the size of a small key)!
I really hope this is it for finding things in my child's diaper:/
You know, next time something like this happens, you could just bring her over to my house, and it'll be out in a jiffy. ;-)
ReplyDeleteJust by reading this I feel much "better" about everything that Isabelle eats and swallows now...everything in the mouth and especially if she goes quiet you know she is focused eating something she's found :S
