Chloe has always been one of those kids who did things on her own time schedule. She ended breastfeeding on her own, put herself to sleep when she was tired, gave up her binky with no fight, etc. I really should have listened to everyone when they said that one day she would 'get' the whole potty training thing. I wouldn't say I stressed about it, but it was something I consistently talked to Chloe about and used bribing to get her interested. She had no problem with sitting on the potty and was very excited about the whole thing. Except she just couldn't figure out how to pee. She'd sit on the potty for a few minutes and really try her hardest. I praised her for trying and we'd go about our days. She even wanted to wear underwear every so often (maybe once or twice a week), but always had an accident because she didn't know that she needed to pee.
Imagine my surprise when a few weeks ago, she sat on the potty and actually peed!
Chloe was very proud of herself, but wasn't really interested in doing it consistently yet.
I reminded her constantly that if she wanted to go to preschool in the fall, she had to use the potty. Same went for if she wanted to go to gymnastics with Katelyn.
Then 2 weeks ago, Chloe decided she wanted to wear underwear all day. I reminded her about the little potty song we'd learned on the potty app and to let me know when she has the feeling that she needs to go. I planned on cleaning up lots of messes, but she told me when she needed to go and just like that, my friends, Chloe 'got' it:) She wears underwear all day and night, even when we go places. She only had a handful of accidents in the first week (not in public or at night) and as of today, it's been over a week since she had any at all! I keep telling her how proud I am of her and she then tells me "I'm so proud of me too!"
This mama keeps her promises so last night Chloe joined Katelyn at gymnastics and LOVED it!
I watched her through the window most of the hour she was in there and she seems to be a natural gymnast.
