Christmas is sharing

Today Bob helped with the Toys for Tots distribution with his Jeep Club.  I took the girls for a little bit, mainly for Katelyn to gain an appreciation for all that we have and I wanted her to know how good it feels to help others.  It was an eye opening experience for us all.  There were a couple hundred black bags filled with toys for kids covering the floor of the huge building we were plus gigantic boxes of other toys and games to use in case a bag didn't feel like it had enough.  In the 30 minutes the girls and I were there, about 25 families came in.
On our way home, I was talking about the cookies we were going to deliver to a couple of our neighbors, the ones we talk to regularly.  And then Katelyn says, "Mommy, let's go home and make more cookies so we can give to all the neighbors, even the ones we don't know, like the ones with the dog.  You know, because Christmas is sharing."
Every once in a while I see a glimpse of the person that Katelyn will be when she gets older (and isn't in that egocentric stage) and I know somewhere along the way, I've done something right.
